Plant-wide assessment of high-pressure membrane contactors in natural gas sweetening – Part I: Model development

چکیده
Abstract This paper presents a predictive mathematical model of high-pressure membrane contactor, with view to developing plant-wide natural gas sweetening including amine regeneration. We build upon an existing contactor by Quek et al. [Chem Eng Res Des 132:1005–1019, 2018], which uses combination 1-d and 2-d mass-balance equations predict the CO2 absorption flux wetting under lean solvent operation. For first time, quantitative predictions can be made both semi-lean operations. A energy balance that accounts for evaporative losses exothermic into is solved alongside equations, in order temperature profile inside contactor. The water amines quantified separately, as well absorptive light hydrocarbons solvent. model’s capability tested against data from lab-scale module pilot-scale operated industrially relevant conditions at processing facility Malaysia. close agreement between measurements flux, profile, hydrocarbon loss observed wide range flowrates compositions, thereby validating modeling assumptions. combined companion paper, where it used process integration analysis.

Assessment of effective factors on bacterial oxidation of ferrous iron by focusing on sweetening natural gas
In this study, the effects of some factors on bacterial growth and ferrous oxidation rates were investigated by Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidan in 250 ml shake flasks. One factor at a time (OFAT) design approach was used for preliminary evaluation of various factors affecting the process, such as pH, initial ferrous and elemental sulfur concentrations, shaker agitation rate, and liquid to flask v...
متن کاملMathematical Modeling of Gas Separation in Flat-sheet Membrane Contactors
Gas-liquid membrane contactors offer several practical advantages including high surface area per unit volume; independent control of gas and liquid velocities without any flooding, loading, weeping, or foaming, pre-determined gas–liquid interfacial area, membrane modules, capability of linear scale-up; low corrosion problems, and low operation and capital costs. Two common types of membrane co...

The present study is focused on biodesulfurization of natural gas in a batch culture using active microorganisms. The microorganisms used for the removal of hydrogen sulfide were obtained from a hot spring. The experiments were conducted with mixed gas at operating temperatures of 25 to 45°C with a time interval of 5h. Two kinetic models included Logistic and Monod models in a batch culture wer...
متن کاملMicroporous hollow fibre membrane modules as gas- liquid contactors Part 2. Mass transfer with chemical reaction
Absorption determined by mass transfer in the liquid is described well with the Graetz-L&&que equation adapted from heat transfer. The influence of a chemical reaction on the mass transfer was simulated with a numerical model and tested on the absorption of CO2 in a hydroxide solution. Absorption determined by mass transfer in the gas phase and the pores of the membrane was also analysed experi...
